Young Choreographers Competition Finale is a key event of the festival Context. Diana Vishneva. 2020 marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of Pina Bausch and the festival dedicates this evening to the memory of an outstanding choreographer, whose name is of great importance to the whole world of dance.
Traditionally, in the first part of the evening, the finalists of the Competition will present their works, which were created especially for the festival. The winner will receive an internship grant at one of the leading companies or schools of contemporary dance.
In the second part of the evening, the audience will see two premieres. Pavel Glukhov, the winner of the Audience Award at the Young Choreographers Competition-2016, will present a performance created especially for this evening in cooperation with the Chelyabinsk Theatre of Contemporary Dance, in which he invites viewers to return to the state of “primitive” perception of the world through the eyes of a child. Kirill Radev, the winner of the Young Choreographers Competition-2019, will present a work created in difficult conditions of isolation, in which he tries to comprehend how recent events have changed people's worldview.

The purpose of the competition is to find, support and develop promising young talents of contemporary choreography in Russia. Contestants create works and get the opportunity to present them to spectators in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as to hear the opinion of the recognized masters of the world of dance. This gives creators the experience they need and encourages further development. It is impossible not to note that in recent years the names of the finalists and winners of the Young Choreographers Competition are increasingly appearing on the posters of leading theatres and festivals in Russia and other countries.
